Bragi was the god of poetry and one of the Æsir who lived in Asgard. Miðgarðr was the world of mortals. Jónas Hallgrímsson will forever be the greatest Icelandic poet. He is the ‘Bragi’ of ‘Midgard’. This is not because he is the best poet because he was living in the right era of Icelandic history.
